Clients which require the implementaiton an Internet mapping application, but do not wish to install and maintain their own server can use Citygate's Hosted Web services.

GIS in conjunction with Mapsolute Inc. provide complete hosted Internet Mapping Web Services offered through a 24-7 monitored, secure server site with over 300 MapTP servers.  Web services can provide access to a combination of user created and NavTeq or Teleatlas map data.

Programming support for SOAP, XML, AJAX, C++, ActiveX and .Net exists and is directly compatible to the end user hosted version of the MapTP server.   This capability allows easy transfer of web services applications to internally hosted servers without the need for reprogramming.

The following is some of the functionality available through Web Services.

  • Geocoding Service.   The Geocoding Service, generates Latitude/Longitude locations on the map by matching addresses to a street database.  Spelling and/or other address coding errors are automatically corrected by the Geocoding engine.
  • Reverse Geocoding Services.   The Reverse Geocoding Service, generates an address from a map coordinate.
  • Proximity Service.   The Proximity Service allows the spatial search of objects in a specified corridor or buffer.
  • Routing Service.   The routing service calculates optimized routes between locations.  The service provides a polyline of the optimized route and can generate turn by turn directions in any of 15 languages.  The routing results can also be altered by the user to include weight/height restrictions and the more or less use of specific road classes.
  • Matrix Routing Service.  The Matrix Routing Service enables the calculation of optimized routes between multiple points.  Matrix routing is used when calculating a route with multiple stops, such as a delivery route.
  • Isoline Routing ServiceIsolines define areas around a starting point which can be reached within a particular time.  Isolines are typically used when creating a service area.  i.e. Area around a Fire Station which can be reached within a 10 minute drive time.
  • MGI Printing Service.   The MGI (Map Graphic Interface) Service provides the ability for users to generate printed maps from Vector data used by the MapTP server.
