| Maptician includes a complete student
population projection module base on a modified cohort survival system. The software
allows the user to compute a district wide or school based cohort survival ratio based on
historical information. The Cohort ratio is then used for developing population
projections by grade for future years. once
the Cohort rates have been developed, the user can then apply the rate to individual
blocks in order to identify future attendance area totals by block. The projected
numbers can also be used during the attendance area redistricting process. Once
completed, the results can be displayed in an Excel(tm) compatible spreadsheet which
includes dozens of visualization and graphing options.

In areas with uneven growth rates, Maptician enables the
user to create a Block Capacity Map to be used during the projection process.

The Block Capacity Map allows users to separate areas with
high growth potential from those with limited open space. Each block can be rated
from 1 to 100% in capacity and be assigned a year for that capacity. Once the Block
reaches its capacity year, the percent capacity is applied and the block is not allowed
additional growth beyond the capacity percent.
