Roadblock Optimization
One of the key requirements during an emergency is the need to rapidly close off access to an area.  E-MAPS provides the ability to rapidly create optimized road closures.

This functionality was developed during the DC Sniper spree to allow law enforcement and emergency management personnel to quickly create and implement optimized road blocks.  E-MAPS is the only commercially available product with this functionality.

The software performs this optimization by identifying key locations for placement of road closures. As shown in the following graphic.

Typical Road Closure Plan

Optimized Road Closure Plan
12 Road Blocks required to close the area

Optimization has reduced the number to 7 Road Blocks required to close the area

To close the area on the left, 12 road closures would be required.  Through optimization, the number has been reduced to 7.   Additionally, the software has ranked (shown in colors ranging from red to white) most likely exit routes from the incident location at the center of the circle.  The road closures are also ranked from the most  to least important.
