Support Options:
The LUCA/BAS
Extension is a free add-on extension from ESRI. It is anticipated that no cost
product support will be provided through email.
Citygate is working to develop additional multi-tier fee based phone and onsite support
services for the extension. Current plans include 3 levels of support options:
- Per
incident support. Phone support is provided on a per incident basis.
- Off-site
LUCA/BAS support. Citygate will complete all LUCA and BAS related work for
the government agency.
- On-site
LUCA/BAS support. Citygate will provide onsite support to the government
agency on an as needed basis to complete all LUCA and BAS related work.
Please contact
Citygate GIS at 410-295-333 ext. 111 to discuss your anticipated support requirements for
the LUCA and BAS programs. We are eager to hear from agencies planning to
participate in the program in order that we can better tailor our support services.
LUCA / BAS Questions and Answers
Why
was the LUCA and BAS Extension created?
Participation
in certain LUCA and BAS programs requires submission of data in specific formats back to
the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau is
making available software which assists in this process.
However, the Census Bureau software is not an ESRI based application and as
such would not support ESRI Data types such as Geodatabases. The ArcGIS LUCA and BAS extension provides support
for all ESRI data types and helps to streamline the submission of the LUCA data in the
required format.
How
do I get it?
The
ArcGIS LUCA extension is a free download from the ESRI web site.
Can
I use my Projected data with the ArcGIS LUCA and BAS Extension?
The
Census provided GIS Data is in Lat-Long coordinate system.
Your data must either be projected or imported using appropriate layer
projection settings.
What
technical support resources are available to me?
ESRI
Phone technical support is not available for the ArcGIS LUCA and BAS extension. Citygate GIS, the company which participated with
ESRI in the development of the Extension, provides several levels of onsite phone and
email support. Additional information in the
above section "Support Options".
What
types of local data can I use in the LUCA and BAS extension?
The
main focus of the LUCA process is addresses. As
such, any data source (geographic or tabular) which identified all current residential
addresses in your jurisdiction would be of benefit.
This type data may include: Tax Assessment data, 911 databases, water
and sewer customer databases etc. Other data
which could be of benefit to the project are GIS road data, satellite and or aerial
photography.
The
BAS program focuses on the legal boundaries such as Counties, Towns and Cities. Local GIS data depicting these boundaries can be
used with the BAS portion of the extension.
